5th CAYS

Model-ASEAN Conference

The 5th CAYS comprised nine committees which produced one Cooperation Blueprint each at the end of the conference. The topics were:​

• Enhancing China-ASEAN Regional Connectivity: Synergizing the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025 and the Belt and Road Initiative

• Towards an East Asia Community: Strengthening Supply Chain Connectivity in ASEAN+3

• Building an Ecological Civilisation: Constructing an Asia-Pacific Biodiversity Cooperation Framework

• Combating Transnational Crime: Enhancing Cooperation to Counter Transnational Cybercrime during COVID-19

• Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation in Cultivating Technology and Digital Talents

• Developing a Competitive and Sustainable Tourism Industry: Towards a Post COVID-19 Future

• Building an Advanced Digital Economy: Bridging the Technological Gap in Society

• Enhancing Public Health Cooperation: Promoting a Cohesive Response to COVID-19 Health Challenges

• Envisioning Cooperation and Poverty Eradication in the Lancang-Mekong Region

Panel Discussion & Thematic Seminars

​The theme for the panel discussion was “Opportunities and Challenges for China-ASEAN Youths in the Post-Covid-19 Era”. In addition, each committee participated in a corresponding thematic seminar which invited industry leaders to give a sharing.

Fireside Chat

The Fireside Chat aimed to allow delegates to engage in meaningful conversations on their observations and experience in their home countries, with topics ranging personal perspectives on national identity and resilience to the cultural, social, and economic dynamics in the region:

• Comparison of artistic styles between China and ASEAN Countries

• The Strawberry Generation? Perspectives on resilience and crisis preparedness in the post-covid era

• Comparison of ASEAN’s significance to individual ASEAN countries and China

• Perceptions and attitudes towards seeking employment in the post-covid era

• Bridging the present and the future: Youth education in China and ASEAN countries

• Exploring national identity – its roots and purpose

• Perceptions on social impact in China and ASEAN

• The prevalence of “Asian Values” in China and ASEAN

Cultural Activities

Besides activities and games during the Cultural Night, delegates also participated in handicraft workshops to create their own Burmese Patheum Umbrella, Peking Opera Mask, and Batik. The event also included a China-ASEAN Monopoly- a different rendition of the Monopoly board game where each player represented one of eleven nationalities (all ten ASEAN member states plus China) and performed specific tasks based on their role.
